Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: John Stones, Ezequiel Garay, More!
The
transfer season is in full swing, so let’s take a look at what transfer
rumours concerning Chelsea FC are flying around the press this morning.
John Stones
The
John Stones-Chelsea transfer saga saw a major development yesterday
after the Everton defender reportedly handed in his transfer request.
Jose Mourinho indicated that the onus was on the youngster to make the
deal happen after Blues offers were repeatedly rejected, and now the
21-year-old has made a significant move. As a result, Chelsea are
readying another bid worth around £40million in the hope that Stones’
actions will force Roberto Martinez to part with him for a lower than
desired price.
Chelsea
will return to Everton with a fourth and final offer for John Stones
potentially worth £40m after the England international submitted a
formal transfer request.
Paul Pogba
Chelsea
are continuing in their efforts to land French superstar Paul Pogba.
The midfielder has been on Jose Mourinho’s radar for some time now, and
the Blues are ready to go in with a mega bid seemingly buoyed by the
surprising Pedro swoop. After a deal was agreed with Juventus that saw
Juan Cuadrado move to Italy on loan, Chelsea now believe that Juve will
accept an offer of around £70m.
The deal for Pogba,
22, would break the British transfer record by more than £10m and, while
its success is by no means guaranteed, sufficient encouragement has
been given to Chelsea that they will pursue the deal this week.
Ezequiel Garay
With
rumours suggesting that Chelsea may make a move for Ezequiel Garay
should a John Stones transfer fail to materialise, Zenit St Petersburg
have issued a hands-off warning regarding the defender. The Blues are in
dire need of a centre-back and even though recent developments indicate
that Stones will be a Chelsea player by the end of the window, Garay
has been a potential fall-back option.
Zenit St
Petersburg will resist any attempt by Chelsea to sign Ezequiel Garay if
they pursue the central defender as an alternative to John Stones.
The
Russian club insists that Garay is not for sale at any price and there
has been no contact from Chelsea to make an inquiry.
